Down...

... "the p r i m r o s e path of dalliance treads"

I always loved the way primrose sounded in this dreadful sentence. i say 'dreadful' because a path, no matter short or long, is deemed to be exhausting. and dear lord, you have treads on top of that as well! however.. in comparison to that, primrose...hmmm.. tempting.

And at the end, we give in to temptation. we do choose the primrose road. and we do it so professionally. with elegance. and even honour. now, please do not lie to yourself thinking you are choosing the harder way; just because everyone else is finding it difficult. stop it with all the comparisons and gradings and levellings. it neither helps you or the 'other'. how many times have you actually compared yourself to yourself? How many times have you challenged your own records / limits / opinions? Did you ever disagreed with yourself? to the point that you thought you were getting schizophrenic? why do we feel the need to compare ourselves to others when we have a so-much-closer contrast within ourselves?

is it really harder to compete with oneself than to do it with the 'other'? people feel satisfied when they are THE best. what they fail to realise is that they feel THE best compared to everyone else. but is it really THE best compared to their own capabilities? ...

this century is missing the real geniuses. i miss the times when the world was surrounded by the stupid and real 'hardcore path' takers would have to risk their own safety to prove themselves. going over the limits. changing lives. changing the way we live and see. changing what we know. changing our reality. that's what we need. change.

something HAS to change in our way of living.

~~~
I shall the effect of this good lesson keep,
As watchman to my heart. But, good my brother,
Do not, as some ungracious pastors do,
Show me the steep and thorny way to heaven;
Whiles, like a puff'd and reckless libertine,
Himself the primrose path of dalliance treads,
And recks not his own rede.
- W.S. (Hamlet)
